About the Podcast

We started the Enneagram for Idiots podcast in January 2018 with a desire to create content that included real life situations and pop culture examples - content that was relevant for today and not 40 years ago.

Most of us sit in the comfortable ‘average’ level area of our Enneagram type (whether we’d like to admit it or not) and we wanted to create content for that too. The Enneagram is an incredible tool for self-discovery but it’s useless if we’re just talking about the fluffy “healthy” sides of our personality types.

We believe that our best content is created in an exploratory, unstructured format, so each episode is loosely planned so that we can discover new ideas live. You also won’t find any Christian content here - we’re religiously neutral. You will however find lots of swears… because swearing is caring.

If this sounds like the podcast for you or someone you know, dive in on iTunes, Stitcher or Google Play. If you’re looking for episode show notes, dive in here.

“We are all pieces of shit.”

What is the Enneagram?

If you’re new to the Enneagram, we’ll try to make it simple for you. The Enneagram is a personality tool that helps you understand why you do what you do. It is a system that represents human consciousness and explains human behaviour. When used with it’s original spiritual intent, it can be a very effective tool in helping you disidentify from your personality and experience your deeper nature.

There are 9 personality types in this system and they are based on 9 fears and drives that are very complex. As wild as that concept may seem (how can billions of people fall into 9 types?) you’ll discover it’s wildly accurate.

As you learn more about the Enneagram you will find there are a lot of conflicting theories, views and applications. Everyone resonates with different kinds of content so we encourage you to explore different podcasts, books, workshops and events to find out what works for you. When it comes down to it, we’re all working with the same content in different ways.

If you’re trying to find out your type on your own, books are some of the best resources for finding that out. Tests can be inaccurate, skewed, cash grabs and 9 times out of 10 aren’t in-depth enough to get a full grasp of who we are. Here are some books we recommend.
